Paying a crew from memory and a group text is how you end up paying for hours nobody worked, and how a good worker ends up short. The time clock puts the punches in the same app your crew already has open for their jobs.
It is off until you switch it on, and it is included on every paid plan.
1 Turn it on
In your settings, find the Worker time clock card and turn on Turn on the time clock for my team.
Your crew sees a notice the first time explaining what is being recorded. That is deliberate: hours are a sensitive thing to start collecting without telling anybody.
2 What your crew sees
The worker app gets a Time clock card showing where they stand: Off the clock, On the clock with the time they started, or On lunch.
Their buttons are Clock in, Start lunch, End lunch and Clock out, and the card shows the hours worked today. Clocking out asks to confirm, because an accidental tap should not end somebody’s shift.
It works with no signal. Punches made out of coverage queue on the phone and sync when the app gets a connection back. A worker in a dead spot at the back of a property is not going to lose the start of their day.
3 Review the week on Timesheets
Open Timesheets from the settings card or from the menu. It shows Hours each worker clocked, one row per shift, with columns for Worker, Date, Worked and Lunch.
Filter to one person or leave it on All workers. A row that reached us late shows Synced late, which is the offline queue catching up rather than anything being wrong.
4 Fix a forgotten punch
Somebody will forget to clock out. Use Fix on that row to open the edit dialog, where you can set Clock in and Clock out, adjust or Remove lunch, and where Reason (required) is exactly that.
The reason is required so the change is explained on the timesheet. That protects you as much as the worker: an edited shift with “Forgot to clock out, confirmed by text” written on it is a record, and an edited shift with nothing written on it is an argument waiting to happen.
The dialog will not let you save nonsense. Clock out has to be after clock in, and a lunch has to end after it starts.
5 Export for payroll
Export the range as a CSV and hand it to whoever runs your payroll, or open it yourself and total it up. That is the whole point of the page existing.
If you turn it back off
A worker who is already on the clock can always clock out, even if you turn the time clock off while their shift is running. Nobody gets stranded mid-shift with no way to close it, and you do not get a shift with no end on it.
Worth being straight with your crew about
Tell them before you switch it on, not after they see the notice. The pitch is easy and it is true: it means their hours are recorded rather than remembered, and a forgotten punch gets fixed with a note instead of a disagreement.
