Your crew signs in once with a password, then unlocks with a PIN or a fingerprint after that. Nobody should be typing a long password on a phone in a truck.
1 First sign-in
Install the ClippingCash Field Worker app, then sign in with the email the invite went to and the password set when accepting it.
If the email and password are not both filled in you get Please enter your email and password.
The error messages are specific, which helps when you are talking a crew member through it over the phone:
| What they see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Wrong email or password. | Credentials are wrong. Not a network problem. |
| No internet connection. Please check your network. | The phone has no signal or data. |
| Connection timed out. Check your internet and try again. | Weak signal rather than none. |
| Server error. Please try again in a moment. | Our end. Wait and retry. |
If someone has forgotten their password, they can reset it or use a magic link the same as anyone else.
2 Set a PIN
After signing in, set a PIN. The app asks them to Choose a 4-digit PIN, then Re-enter your PIN to confirm. Mistype it and you get PINs did not match. Try again.
Once set, you get PIN login enabled.
Have every crew member do this on day one. It is the difference between an app they open twenty times a day and an app they avoid.
3 Or use biometrics
If the phone supports fingerprint or face unlock, that can be enabled too, confirmed with Biometric login enabled.
Biometrics are the best option for field use: no typing at all, and it works with gloves off and hands full. The PIN stays available as the fallback.
4 Unlocking day to day
Opening the app shows the lock screen, headed Unlock ClippingCash Field Worker, and it greets them by name with Welcome back.
The options on that screen are Enter PIN instead, Sign in with password, and Try Again if a biometric read fails with Biometric authentication was not recognised.
5 When they get locked out
Wrong PINs count down out loud: Incorrect PIN. N attempts left.
Run out and it escalates in two stages:
- Too many attempts. Enter your PIN or use your password.
- Too many attempts. Please sign in with your password.
The way out is always the password. Nothing is broken and nothing needs resetting from your side, so if a crew member rings you locked out, the answer is “sign in with your password and set the PIN again”, not “I need to fix your account”.
What to tell a new crew member
- Install the app, sign in with your email and password.
- Set a 4-digit PIN you will remember.
- Turn on fingerprint unlock if your phone has it.
- If you ever get locked out, use your password.
Four lines, and it saves you a phone call in week one.
