A field worker gets the mobile app, sees their own jobs, and marks them done. They do not see your books. Getting the role right at invite time is the whole job.
1 Send the invite
On the Workers page, click Invite Field Worker. It sends an email invite, and once they accept, they use the mobile app to see their jobs and mark them done.
They set their own password when they accept, so you never handle it. Nothing appears on their phone until they have accepted.
Pending email invites show below the worker list until they are accepted. Check there before re-sending: the usual reason someone “never got the invite” is that it went to spam, not that it was never sent.
2 Know the six roles
ClippingCash has six roles, and they are not interchangeable:
| Role | Broadly what it is for |
|---|---|
| owner | You. Full access, including money-moving actions. |
| admin | Trusted second-in-command with near-full access. |
| bookkeeper | Someone who handles the books. |
| office_worker | Office and scheduling help. |
| field_worker | Crew on the mobile app. |
| member | Basic membership. |
Some actions are deliberately restricted to owner and admin only. Issuing refunds is one, because it moves money out of your Stripe account. Saving your invoicing defaults is owner-only.
Invite crew as field_worker. It is the least-privilege choice and it is what the mobile app expects. Do not hand out admin to save yourself a conversation about permissions later; that is how someone accidentally refunds a payment.
3 Assign them to a crew
Each worker row has a Crew dropdown. Use it to assign that worker to a crew, or leave them Unassigned.
This is where crew membership is set, even though crews themselves are created on the Crews page. Crew features need the Growing plan.
4 Find people in a longer list
Above the list there is a crew filter and a search box. The filter includes All Crews and Unassigned.
Unassigned is the useful one. Filter to it now and then: a worker who is not in a crew will not appear in crew-grouped views, which is a quiet way for someone’s work to go missing from your planning.
5 Removing someone
The remove action takes a worker off your team. Their completed job history stays, which is what you want: work they did in April is still work that happened, and it still ties to the invoices it generated.
Remove people promptly when they leave. An active login belonging to someone who no longer works for you is an open door to your customer list.
Worker limits
Plans cap how many team members you can have. If an invite is refused, you are likely at your tier’s limit; check your plan before assuming something is broken.
