How to see who changed what

The ClippingCash activity log shows every user action across your account, filterable by action type. Use it to answer who changed this, and when.

Once more than one person can log in, “who did that?” becomes a real question. The Activity Log answers it: it shows all user activities and actions across your account.

1 Open the activity log

Go to Activity Log. You get actions in time order, newest first, with who did them.

2 Filter by action

There is a Filter by action dropdown. Use it rather than scrolling, because on an active account the unfiltered log is long by the end of a week.

Pick the action type that matches what you are investigating, then scan for the day in question.

3 What it is actually for

Three honest uses:

Settling a genuine question. A price changed, a customer’s address is different, a job moved. Rather than accusing anyone, look. Usually it was a reasonable action taken for a reason you had not heard about.

Finding the training gap. The same mistake by the same person twice is not a discipline problem, it is a training one. The log shows you the pattern.

Security. If you suspect an account has been used by someone it should not have been, the log is where you look for actions that do not fit.

4 Use it well

Some advice on this one, because an audit log is easy to misuse.

Look before you ask, then ask anyway. The log tells you what happened, never why. Somebody deleted a recurring service; the log cannot tell you the customer rang and cancelled. Go in with a question, not a conclusion.

Do not monitor your staff with it. If your crew work out that you read the log daily looking for mistakes, you will get people who avoid touching anything rather than people who fix things. That is a much more expensive problem than the occasional wrong edit.

Be honest that it exists. Tell your team there is an activity log. It is fairer, and it is a mild deterrent that costs you nothing.

The activity log is not the only record:

  • Customer-requested detail changes and moved property pins have their own review queue, including who moved a pin and how far.
  • Offline conflicts and location overrides land in needs review.
  • Money movements are in the transactions ledger, where refunds and adjustments each leave their own row.

For a money question, start at the ledger. For a data question, start here.
