How to pause your account for the off-season

Stop billing over winter without losing anything. Your account pauses, reactivates automatically on March 1, and you can come back early whenever you like.

Lawn care stops in the winter. Software subscriptions usually do not, which is why plenty of operators cancel in November and spend a week in March rebuilding what they threw away.

ClippingCash pauses instead. Billing is stopped while you are off-season, and your account comes back on its own.

1 Ask us to pause it

There is no self-serve pause button yet. Email support@clippingcash.com and say you want your account paused for the off-season, and we will do it.

That is the only step that needs us. Everything after it is automatic or in your hands: the resume happens on its own, and you can bring the account back early yourself whenever you like.

2 What a paused account looks like

Sign in to a paused account and you get a screen headed Your account is paused for the season, which tells you billing is stopped while you are off-season, that the account will automatically reactivate on a specific date, and that we will email you a few days before.

3 It comes back on March 1

The automatic resume date is March 1. If March 1 has already passed this year, it is March 1 next year.

That date is chosen for the work, not for the calendar. Spring cleanups and the first cuts start landing in March across most of the country, and the account is live before the phone starts ringing rather than after.

You get an email a few days beforehand, so the resume is never a surprise charge.

4 Coming back early

Warm spell in February? Customer wants a quote in January? Tap Reactivate now and you are straight back in. The screen says it plainly: ready early, reactivate now to get right back in.

Reactivating resumes billing on your current plan. No renegotiating, no re-picking a tier, no re-entering a card.

5 Nothing is lost

Pausing stops the billing, not the account. Customers, properties, job history, invoices, payments, photos and settings are all exactly where you left them. Recurring services are still configured. Your crew’s logins still exist.

That is the whole argument for pausing over cancelling. Cancelling means rebuilding. Pausing means signing back in.

6 Pause or cancel

Pause if you will be back next season. That is nearly everyone in this trade.

Cancel only if you are leaving the business or moving to different software for good. See how to change plans or cancel.

If you are unsure, pause. It is the reversible option, and the only cost of being wrong is a subscription you resume and then cancel properly in the spring.

A note on the off-season

The quiet months are the right time for the admin you never get to in June:

  • Clean up the GPS pins on properties that gave you trouble.
  • Reconcile the season and chase what is still owed.
  • Set next year’s holiday exceptions in one sitting.
  • Review your pricing against what the analytics actually show.

Then pause, and enjoy the winter.
