You are on a mower, not at a desk, and the Messages page is not where your eyes are. Text forwarding sends a copy of each text a customer sends your business number to your own cell, and to the cells of team members you turn on. The copy comes from your business number.
It works one way only. To answer, reply in ClippingCash, so the customer only ever sees your business number and the conversation stays on their record.
Text forwarding comes with customer texting, so it is on the same plans as texting (Growing and up), and texting has to be turned on first.
1 Open Text forwarding
Go to your Subscription page, Texting tab, and find the Text forwarding card. It lists you and your team, each with a switch and a Cell number box. Only the account owner can change it.
2 Turn someone on
Type the person’s cell number, press Save number, then flip their switch. ClippingCash texts that phone from your business number:
Your company: reply YES to get copies of customer texts on this phone. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply.
Their row reads Waiting for them to reply YES until they do, then On. Nobody gets copies until their own phone answers YES, and you cannot switch that step off for them. If the text got lost, Resend sends it again. A YES counts for 7 days after the ask.
A cell number can belong to one team member only. If you change someone’s number later, the new number needs its own YES.
3 What a copy looks like
Each copy starts with the customer’s name and address, then their text:
Pat Jones (1420 N Rock Rd): Can you skip us this week? Out of town. Reply in ClippingCash: link
The link opens that conversation in Messages. Field workers get the copy without the link, because they can’t open Messages in the web app. A customer photo shows as “(photo in app)”, and a long text is cut short with “(more in app)”, so you read the rest in Messages.
4 What it costs
Each forwarded text uses 1 text credit per person it goes to, however long the text is. Two people on means 2 credits for each customer text. The YES text costs 1 credit too. Credits come from the same balance as your other texts, and copies stop while you are out of credits. The customer’s text still lands in Messages either way.
What is never forwarded
- STOP, HELP and START texts, which ClippingCash handles for you.
- Empty texts.
- Texts from your own team’s numbers or from your business number.
Turning it off
Flip the person’s switch off, or have them reply STOP to the business number from their phone. After a STOP, that phone gets nothing more, not even a new YES ask, until it texts START. Then you can turn them back on.
