How to ask the help assistant

Type or say what you are trying to do and get short steps from the ClippingCash help articles, with the sources, a how-to video when there is one, and a Take me there button.

You are in the middle of a job and cannot remember where something lives. Instead of searching the support pages, ask. The help assistant answers from the ClippingCash help articles, FAQ and feature pages, and nothing else. If the help does not cover your question, it says so.

1 Open help

In the web app, click Need help? at the bottom right of any page. A panel opens on the right that says What are you trying to do?. The page behind it stays usable, so you can follow the steps while the panel is open.

In the latest versions of the owner app, open Help from the menu. In the latest versions of the worker app, tap the help button on the jobs list, or open Help from Settings.

2 Ask your question

Type a question of up to 300 characters, such as “send an invoice”, and press Ask. Before you type anything, the panel offers a few suggested questions for the screen you are on.

You can also ask by voice. Where voice questions are switched on, a microphone button sits next to Ask. Tap it, say your question, and tap again to stop. In the web app your browser asks for microphone permission the first time. In the apps a spoken question can run up to 30 seconds. The words are typed into the box and asked for you, and you can read what it heard. The recording is used to turn your speech into text and is not stored.

3 Read the answer

An answer is a short title and numbered steps, written from the help articles. Under it you get:

  • Sources: the help articles the steps came from, so you can open the full article.
  • A video, when one of the how-to videos covers it, starting at the right spot.
  • Take me there, when the answer is about a screen, which opens that screen. In the web app the panel stays open after you click it.

What the crew sees

A crew member who asks in the worker app gets answers about the worker app only: their jobs, the time clock, photos, offline use and similar. Billing, plans, settings and pay questions are not answered there, and they are told to ask their boss. Crew can ask in English or Spanish.

When it cannot answer

If the help does not have the answer, the assistant does not guess. Owners and staff are told to email support@clippingcash.com. Crew are told to ask their boss.

There is a daily limit. Each business gets 40 questions a day for the owner and office, and 20 a day for the crew. Past that, the assistant points to the help center at clippingcash.com/support until the next day. Asking many questions in a minute shows a short “wait a minute” message.

Do not put customer names or details in a question. We remove email addresses and long number strings before the question is processed, but the safest question is a general one. Your question is saved to improve the help, and the text of a saved question is removed after 180 days.
