How to plow and bill snow removal per push

Set up a snow service with driveway sizes, sign properties up, make a push for every one of them on a snow morning with Snow day, and get one invoice per finished push.

Snow is billed per push: each time you clear a driveway, that is one job and one invoice at the push price. Nothing is made until you tap, so a forecast that fizzles costs you nothing. Setup is in the web app. On the day, your crew finishes the pushes in the worker app.

This is per push only. There is no pricing by inches of snow, no seasonal flat contract, and no salt or material tracking.

1 Add a snow service

Go to Services and add a service. Set Category to Snow. The price is now Price per push, charged once for every push, also when your company bills by the hour.

For different driveways, save the service, open it again and use Driveway sizes (optional). Type a name such as Small or Large with its price and click Add size. Archive a size you no longer use. Pushes already made keep the price they were made at.

2 Sign properties up

Open the customer, find the property and turn on Snow removal. Choose the snow service, a Driveway size, a Default crew and any Snow notes, such as “Shovel the front steps too”. Click Start snow removal.

The property now shows its Push price and where it came from. The price comes from the first of these that exists: a price you set for that property, the driveway size, a price you set for the customer, then the service price. Turn Snow removal off to stop plowing that property. A property is signed up once, and Snow day makes one push per property.

3 Make a Snow day

Once at least one property is signed up, a Snow day button appears on the Schedule page next to Rain day.

  1. Pick the Date, today or later. Add the Trigger depth (inches) and a Label if you want them on the record.
  2. If you run crews, pick one crew or leave it on all crews.
  3. Leave Text each customer on to send one text to each customer who agreed to texts, on a texting plan. Before 8am or after 9pm the texts wait until 8am.
  4. Click Preview. You see every property with its price, the total, and any property that was skipped and why. Untick a property to leave it out. A property that already has a snow push that day is skipped, unless you tick the box to make a second push because it snowed again.
  5. Click Make pushes.

A notice with Undo appears. Undo cancels every push nobody has started or invoiced, and tells you which stayed. After you make the pushes, Optimize route orders them like any other day. Pushing the same button twice does not make double jobs.

If your account is paused for the season, it is read-only and you cannot make pushes. Do not pause if you plow.

4 Your crew finishes the pushes

In the worker app a snow push shows a Snow tag on the job. When the crew taps Complete they get Finish the snow push: Snow depth (inches) is required, and they can add after photos. A completion made with no signal waits on the phone and goes through when it is back, depth included.

The depth is a record for you. It does not change the price.

5 One invoice per push

Finishing a push creates one invoice for the push price, for every customer, including customers on a monthly lawn billing plan and companies that bill by the hour. A push is never folded into the lawn plan and never given away. If you turned off automatic invoicing, the push stays finished and uninvoiced until you invoice it, like any one-off job.

6 Check what happened

In Snow day, the Past snow days tab lists this season’s snow days, newest first: how many pushes were made, done, invoiced and cancelled, and the depth. A day with pushes done but not invoiced says so and links to that day’s schedule, so you can see whether you billed every push from Monday’s storm.

The latest owner app also has a Snow day sheet on the Route screen. Setting up services and properties stays in the web app.
