Two ways back into your account when the password is not working: reset it, or bypass it with a one-time email link. Both start from the login screen and take under a minute.
1 Click “Forgot password” on the login screen
From the login page, click Forgot password. You land on the Reset your password screen, which asks for one thing: the email address on your account.
2 Send yourself a reset link
Type your email and click Send reset link. You will see a Check your email confirmation telling you that if an account with that email exists, a password reset link has been sent.
That wording is deliberate. ClippingCash gives the same confirmation whether or not the address is registered, so nobody can use this screen to work out who has an account. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.
You can request three reset emails per 15 minutes. Ask for a fourth and you get Too many password reset requests. Please try again in N seconds. Wait it out rather than retrying.
3 Open the link and set a new password
The reset link is good for one hour and works only once. Open it after that, or reuse a link you already used, and you get This reset link has expired or is no longer valid along with a prompt to request a fresh one.
Enter the new password twice. It has to meet all of these:
- At least 8 characters
- Upper and lower case letters
- At least one number
- At least one special character from
@$!%*?& - Not a password you have used recently on this account
If the two boxes do not match you get Passwords do not match before anything is saved. If you try to reuse an old password you get Password has been used recently. Please choose a different password.
Click Reset password. You are sent back to the login screen with a confirmation, ready to sign in with the new password.
Resetting your password signs you out everywhere. Every other active session is ended, including the phone apps, so anyone using your login on another device has to sign in again. That is the point: if you are resetting because you think someone else got in, this is what locks them out.
4 Or skip the password with a magic link
If you would rather not deal with a password at all, ClippingCash can email you a one-time sign-in link instead. Go to the magic login screen and you will see Enter your email and we will send you a secure login link.
Enter your email, click Send magic link, then open the link from your inbox. You are signed straight in with no password typed.
Magic links expire in 20 minutes and work only once, which is why they are safe to email. Request a new one whenever you need it. Like the reset flow, the confirmation message is the same whether or not the address is registered.
Which one should you use
Use the magic link when you just need to get in right now and you are on a device you trust. Use a password reset when you actually want to change the password, or when you suspect someone else has your old one and you need every other session cut off.
