How to fix a property's map pin

When an address geocodes to the wrong spot, drag the pin, type exact coordinates, or re-run the geocode. Keeps routing and on-site GPS accurate.

Automatic address lookup gets most properties right and some properties wrong. Rural routes, new builds, long driveways, and corner lots are the usual offenders. When the pin is off, routing is off and your crew drives to the wrong spot, so this is worth fixing the moment you notice.

1 Open the location picker

From Properties, click Edit location on the row (or Set location if it has no coordinates yet). The pop-up shows the service address at the top and a map below it.

2 Drag the pin

The red marker on the map is draggable. Pick it up, drop it where the crew should actually park or where the work actually is, and the latitude and longitude fields underneath update to match.

For a long driveway, put the pin where the truck stops, not on the centre of the parcel. For a corner lot, put it on the side the crew works from. The pin is a navigation target, not a legal boundary.

3 Or type exact coordinates

If someone has given you real coordinates, there are two number fields you can type straight into: latitude (example placeholder 39.9242) and longitude (example placeholder -83.8088). The map pin moves to match what you type.

They are validated. Latitude outside -90 to 90 gives Invalid latitude, and longitude outside -180 to 180 gives Invalid longitude, so a transposed pair gets caught rather than saved.

Click Save coordinates. You get a Coordinates saved confirmation and the property’s GPS badge flips to GPS set.

4 Or re-run the geocode

Sometimes the address itself was wrong rather than the lookup. Correct the address on the customer’s record first, then come back here and click Re-run geocode. You will see Re-geocoding queued. Coordinates will update shortly.

It queues rather than resolving instantly, so give it a moment and reopen the property to see the new pin.

There is a 60 second cooldown per property. Click it twice in a row and you get Rate limited, wait 60 seconds before re-running geocode for the same property. That is a guard against hammering the geocoding provider, not an error on your part.

Who else can move a pin

Your crew can move a property’s pin from the worker app when they are standing at the property, which is the most accurate correction you can get. Those moves are not silent: every pin change is logged and shows up for you to review under GPS Pin Changes, with who moved it, when, the before and after coordinates, and how far it moved in metres.

That review queue is covered in how to approve customer change requests.
